Born in post WW II Germany as a byproduct of the US occupation, I found myself in an orphanage at a very early age. To say that war tends to dislocate whole families would be an understatement. I am the third oldest of four half siblings, all of us adopted by different families. My adoptive Dad was in the military. I found myself at a very young age moving around a great deal. I started off my travels in Buzzards Bay, MA, where I was immersed into the English language in the local elementary school. I quickly learned that I was a Kraut, Nazi and any number of other disconcerting phrases. I think they call that bullying in todays world but back then it was the norm. I don't think my adoptive parents ever knew. The one good thing that happened during that period of my life was becoming a US Citizen. Traveling with my military Dad quickly led me to San Francisco, Yokohama Japan, Georgia, back to Germany and then finally Annapolis, Maryland and the Chesapeake Bay. It was here I was sold on sailing and came of age. I entered the military and headed to Vietnam for my first of three tours. I served in all four regions of South Vietnam and made additional travels to Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, Australia and once again Japan. After almost eight years it was back to civilian life and Maryland and more sailing on the Chesapeake. In only a few years though, I was on the road once again. This time Colorado and the Rocky Mountains. I enjoyed it so much I stayed for thirty plus years. I traveled throughout the US by Harley and skied some of the best terrain in the world and canoed and rafted the wild rivers of Colorado and Utah. I did all this while raising two wonderfully talented boys and finishing up my thirty five year career with the government. It was time to move on again and pursue a life time dream of going back to sailing, possibly around the world. After much research, I found what I was looking for in a sailboat in Roatan, Honduras. A well maintained 42' Tayana CC with everything I would need to gain experience and prepare myself for a sailing lifestyle. If only life was so simple! Though I saved and was thrifty, the financial burden of my son in college and funding this endeavor are still out of reach but getting much closer. So I have moved on to plan B, which is finding space on other people's sailboats. I search for opportunities to go sailing for extended periods of time and gain more knowledge, experience and a Captains license and took up photography. I wait for the moment when I once again can find my first sailboat and follow my life's dream. I have been taking photographs throughout my travels and have a website where I sell wall art and it also includes Home and Office Decor, and in addition there are many lifestyle type items such as shower curtains, coffee mugs, notebooks, tote bags and so much more!! Any purchases made will put me a step closer to achieving my goal, and you will have a wonderful piece of artwork to enjoy.
